Salt Fog Test Equipment Filiform Corrosion Tester

LIB Salt Fog Test Equipment Filiform Corrosion Tester is a specialized corrosion testing solution designed to evaluate coating durability, underfilm corrosion behavior, and long-term material performance in aggressive salt and high-humidity environments. The system operates at a controlled salt fog deposition rate of 1–2 mL/80 cm²·h with a stable spray pressure of 83 kPa, ensuring uniform and repeatable corrosion exposure.

Constructed with glass fiber reinforced plastics, the chamber offers excellent resistance to both corrosion and high temperatures, ensuring reliable operation even during extended test cycles. The heating system is engineered not to damage the chamber material, with a maximum temperature resistance of up to 110 °C, making it suitable for demanding corrosion and aging applications. With a controlled salt fog deposition rate of 1–2 mL/80 cm²·h, spray pressure of 83 kPa, and precise pH management, the tester fully complies with international standards such as ASTM B117, ISO 9227, ASTM G85, and JIS Z 2371.

The Salt Fog Test Equipment Filiform Corrosion Tester integrates a corrosion-resistant salt spray tower with quartz nozzles to deliver uniform fog distribution and long-term stable operation in harsh salt environments. A precision salt spray collector with measuring cylinder enables real-time verification of deposition rates (1–2 mL/80 cm²·h) to ensure test validity. The 110 L salt water tank features an air-driven mixing system that maintains a 5 ± 1 % NaCl solution with pH tightly controlled at 6.5–7.2, while an automatic water inlet and a saturated air barrel support continuous operation with minimal water consumption. For ease of use and safety, the tester is equipped with a pneumatic open/close lid synchronized with a PID programmable touchscreen controller, which supports 120 programs with 100 steps each, multilingual operation, real-time monitoring, alarm functions, and data export via Ethernet or USB for complete test traceability.

Technical Advantages

1. Accurate Filiform Corrosion Simulation: the tester supports continuous and periodic spray modes with a controlled salt fog deposition rate of 1–2 mL/80 cm²·h and a stable spray pressure of 83 kPa, accurately reproducing corrosion initiation and propagation beneath coatings. Controlled environmental conditions, including temperature up to 60 °C and humidity maintained at 95–98 % RH, ensure highly repeatable and reliable filiform corrosion results.

2. Corrosion-Resistant and Heat-Tolerant Construction: the chamber is constructed from glass fiber reinforced plastics, offering excellent resistance to salt, acids, and high humidity. The material safely withstands operating temperatures of up to 110 °C, ensuring long service life and structural stability during extended corrosion and aging tests.

3. High-Precision Environmental Control: equipped with PT100 Class A temperature sensors with high resolution, the system maintains temperature fluctuation within ±0.5 °C and temperature deviation within ±2.0 °C. Optimized airflow design and a precision spray system ensure uniform temperature and salt fog distribution across the entire test workspace.

4. Flexible and Efficient Sample Handling: standard sample holders include 8 round bars and 7 V-groove supports, allowing specimens to be mounted at adjustable angles in accordance with test standards. Customized fixtures are available to accommodate various sample shapes, sizes, and quantities, improving loading efficiency and test consistency.

5. Intelligent Automation and Data Management: the PID programmable touchscreen controller supports up to 120 programs with 100 steps each, enabling fully automated multi-stage test cycles. Automatic water replenishment and real-time monitoring of temperature, spray time, and deposition rate minimize operator intervention. Test data can be exported via USB or Ethernet, supporting quality audits and regulatory compliance.

6. Safe, Stable, and Mobile Design: the chamber is mounted on four heavy-duty, height-adjustable casters, each with a load capacity of 420 kg, ensuring easy relocation and stable positioning on uneven laboratory floors. Integrated safety protections—including over-temperature alarms and system interlocks—enable reliable and safe unattended operation.

FAQs

Q 1: Will the heating system damage the chamber material? What is the maximum temperature it can withstand?

No. The chamber is made of glass fiber reinforced plastics, which are highly resistant to heat and corrosion. The material can safely withstand temperatures up to 110 °C without degradation.

Q 2: Does the salt spray chamber have an automatic water inlet?

Yes. All units are equipped with an automatic water inlet system to ensure stable, continuous operation during long test cycles.

Q 3: Does the equipment require a continuous water supply?

The system includes a salt water tank that needs to be refilled periodically. The saturated air barrel consumes very little water and does not require frequent refilling, reducing daily maintenance needs.
